Of importance for the future of international competitions for Archery in Namibia is the gold medal which was won by Francois Marais in the compound men division: With this win, he has secured a place for Namibia at the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The event was a huge success due to the precise preparation by the Local Organizing Committee. All participants agreed that this, the biggest ever international competition in Archery on the African Continent was an unforgettable experience. Judging from participation and performance during all the previous continental championships, the standard and quality of archers competing has shown a tremendous improvement. The Archery Association of Namibia is grateful to all the sponsors and supporters who assisted with the hosting of this prestigious event:

  • Cordon Beverages
  • Executive Auto Repairs
  • Afro Pumps and Metal Craft
  • Your Butt Archery Supplies
  • Trophäendienste
  • Dundee Precious Metals
  • Namibia National Olympic Committee
  • Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service
  • Ministry of Transport

The hosting of the championships in Namibia has put a much needed spotlight on archery as a sport and will hopefully create further interest in Namibia, thereby increasing participation of a greater diversity of Namibians in archery.
