Four African countries qualify for Youth Olympic Games

Reddig achieved the minimum qualification criteria for the Youth Olympic Games during the Independence Shoot last month, and again at the South African Championships. With these results, he was able to claim his universality place and therefore book his place among the best youth archers the world has to offer.

Reddig will be joined by the top two countries that qualified at the African Youth Archery Championships held this week at the DTS sports grounds in Windhoek. In the men’s category, Libya and Egypt have achieved qualification with Ali Elgharari (LBA) and Seifeldin Elsehely (EGY) reaching the final of the competition in the Recurve Cadet category.

In the Ladies recurve cadet division, Egypt has qualified after two of their archers – Hana Elshimy and Rana Kamel – advanced through to the final where they will compete against each other today (17th April). Benin’s Kpetchehoue Zinsou has ensured her country receives the second qualification spot by making it to the bronze medal match, where she is competing against Egypt’s Salma Esmat.
